Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of 1in56million.org and the free DNA kit we offer. Using the site or requesting a kit means you accept them.
1. Who we are
1 in 56 Million is operated by Benny Friedman, a self-employed sole trader based in Gabon, trading as “1in56million.org.” There is no registered company; the operator is an individual. You can reach us at 1in56million@protonmail.com.
2. Who may use the service
You must be 18 or older to request a kit or use the service. We do not knowingly accept requests from minors. By requesting a kit you confirm you are of age and that the sample you send is your own.
3. The kit
The kit is provided free of charge, funded by donations. There is no purchase, no fee and no subscription. Because supply depends on donations, kits are sent on a first-come, first-served basis from a waitlist, and we cannot guarantee that any particular request will be fulfilled or when. We ship worldwide, but delivery depends on postal services and on the partner laboratory’s own capabilities; if we cannot reach you, we will say so. One kit per person by default; additional kits for relatives may be requested.
4. What the results are — and are not
Results are provided for genealogical and informational purposes only. Specifically:
- They are not medical or diagnostic, and must not be used for any health purpose. The test does not report health information.
- We make no guarantee of any specific finding, percentage, ethnicity result or relative match. It is entirely possible to receive a result that shows nothing of what you hoped to find.
- They are not legal or immigration advice, and are not proof of Jewish status, not proof of Israelite or lost-tribe descent, and not proof of eligibility under Israel’s Law of Return. Such determinations are made solely by the competent rabbinic, communal or governmental authorities.
- We give no warranty as to timelines, laboratory accuracy, or the acts and omissions of any third-party processor.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use this service to harass or impersonate anyone, to submit a sample that is not your own or that you are not authorised to submit, or to make fraudulent or automated requests. We may refuse, limit or cancel any request at our discretion — for example to prevent abuse, or to make a limited supply of kits go further.
6. Content on this site
Our guides are educational, not advisory. British-Israelism and the lost-tribes theory are contested claims, and we flag disagreement where it exists. Where we discuss citizenship or the Law of Return, we describe in general terms how processes work; we do not handle applications and we are not your lawyer. Always verify current law through official sources and consult a qualified immigration lawyer about your own case. Images on this site are used under their respective licences; see our image credits.
7. Third parties
The DNA test is performed by a separate partner laboratory under its own terms and privacy policy. Your sample and genetic data are handled by them, not by us. Our form is processed by Netlify Forms, and the site is hosted via Netlify.
8. Service provided “as is”
The site and the kit are provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, the kit or the results — including any decision you take on the basis of a result. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the last change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Gabon, and disputes are subject to the courts of Gabon. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you rights that cannot be set aside by contract, those rights are unaffected.
